Social Studies 5 explores the diversity of the people, regions, and cultures in Canada. In this course students learn about Canadian and Aboriginal governments, Canadian communities, transportation and communication and the use and renewal of resources.
Social Studies 5 covers a variety of topics. These include:
--key events and factors in the development of BC and Canada
--immigration; significant individuals in BC and Canada
--levels and responsibilities of government
--First Nations governance
--resources and economic development
--transportation systems
--physical regions of Canada
--location of natural resources; sustainability
--environmental effects of early settlement in BC and Canada
