Biology 11, version 04 (Print)

Biology 11 was revised and updated in 2008 to meet the current IRP. This course is challenging; students who enrol should be seriously interested in the study of life. Some of the topics covered in this course are: the scientific method, inter-relationships of organisms, classification, plant and animal diversity, the process of evolution, and viruses and bacteria.

Due to low sales, please note Kit A (for Modules 1 and 2) and Kit C (for students using a microscope as part of their course) will no longer be offered once stock is depleted.

Kit A contains: 1 Thermometer, 1 Hand Lens, 1 Ruler 15 cm, 1 Slide Label Sheet, 1 Razor Blade, 1 Eyedropper, 1 Sterile Potting Soil 2 lbs, 1 Pkg of 10 Plastic Petrie Dishes, 1 Nutrient Agar 100 ml bottle, 1 Small vial with 8 antibiotic discs, 1-15 ml bottle of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, 1-15 ml bottle of Methylene Blue (1% aqueous solution), 1 only Slide Box (25 capacity), 12 Microscope Slides (plain), 25 plastic Cover Slips, 1 Brine Shrimp Eggs, 1 Sea Salts, 1 package of 25 Corn Seeds, 1 package of 25 Pea Seeds

Kit C contains: 1 Lens Paper Booklet, 1 Nitrogen Fixing Bacteria-Legume Root Nodule-prepared Microscope Slide, 1 Mixed Protozoa-Prepared Microscope Slide, 1 Mixed Blue-Green Algae-Prepared Microscope Slide, 1 Nostoc Sample, 1 small Cork-size 6.

This kit contained three bottles of preserved specimens in a 50% solution of Isopropyl (Rubbing) Alcohol with water.
