French 05/06, version 02 (Print)

BC students are now required to begin a second language at the Grade 5 level, so this course is mandatory for Grade 5 students.

The new French 5/6 course aims to make second language learning exciting and relevant. Students learn, for example, to introduce themselves and others; to talk about their families and favourite things to do; to ask someone how they are; to speak about the weather, the seasons, and clothing; to discuss favourite sports; to give directions in French; and to describe where they and others live. The course is made up of five modules and ten Projets speciaux (special projects). Students choose five of the Projets speciaux and complete one with each module. It is expected that most students will complete Modules 1 and 2 and two Projets speciaux in Grade 5 and Modules 3, 4 and 5 and three Projets speciaux in Grade 6.
