Health & Career Education 9 builds on Health & Career Education 8 and leads into Planning 10. HCE 9 meets all the learning outcomes of the Ministry of Education's IRP.
In HCE 9 students explore short-term and long-term education and career planning and the requirements of the Graduation Program. In the health modules students identify factors that affect their abilities to make informed decisions about their health.
The modules and sections within modules may be taken in any order, as each is independent of the others. The course is designed to take advantage of current resources and to promote information and communications technology skills. There are no tests for this course.
HCE 9 includes a Home Facilitator's Guide to support parents and guardians in extending and enriching the curriculum at home. Please note that there are topics in the health module that some students and parents may feel more comfortable addressing at home. If this is the case, parents should talk to their school about alternate delivery. More information about this can be found at http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/policy/.
