Science & Technology 11, version 03 (Online)

Have you ever wondered how a 400,000-kilogram plane can fly through the air? How scientists can help solve a murder by analyzing clues left at a crime scene? Or how devices such as the cell phone and the computer have transformed the way we communicate? In this course students will learn the answers to these and many other questions. They will develop an understanding of the connection between science and technology and how they can impact the environment and society. In particular, Science and Technology 11 will help students come to understand things such as:

--the roles that science and technology play in solving crimes
--the technologies available to extract, process, and use natural resources in British Columbia
--the need for effective management of resources and the issues related to their impact on the environment
--the role of personal technologies in society
--the technologies associated with transportation and their impact on society

Science and Technology 11 is a four module course based on the Science and Technology 11 Integrated Resource Package (2008). Students are expected to complete all four modules in this course. Additional modules may be developed in the future. This will give students a choice as to which four they would like to complete.
