Foundations of Math 11, version 01 (Print)

Welcome to Foundations of Mathematics 11 (FOM11)! This course was developed by the Alberta Distance Learning Centre and meets all the learning outcomes of the BC Ministry of Education's IRP (WNCP 2008). It is designed to provide you with the mathematical understandings and critical-thinking skills identified for entry into post-secondary programs that do not require the study of theoretical calculus (from the WNCP Common Curriculum Framework for Grades 1012 Mathematics).

FOM 11 continues your work from previous math courses in the following areas: rates and proportional reasoning, angles and triangles, trigonometry, and statistics.

You will also be introduced to scale diagrams, inductive and deductive reasoning, spatial reasoning with puzzles and games, the normal distribution, systems of linear inequalities, and quadratic functions and equations.

The following textbook is required for the course, but not stocked at Open School BC:

Foundations of Mathematics 11 by Nelson, ISBN/ISSN 10: 0-17-650270-X and ISBN 13: 978-0-17-650270-6
