| The course aims to help you understand and apply the Provincial Standards for Registered Assisted Living Supportive Recovery Services (2021) (Standards) in your daily practice, enhancing your work with people in supportive recovery. Completing this course provides eight training hours, which partially fulfills the 20-hour training requirement for supportive recovery service workers under the Assisted Living Regulation (2019). It covers topics such as: Foundations of trauma-informed practice – what it is and how to apply it in particular situations with service usersFoundations of Indigenous cultural safety – why it’s so important and what it looks like in practiceBasics of motivational interviewing – a key counselling skill to support service users to identify and make positive changesThe fundamentals of self-care – what it is, why it’s important and how to make time for itThe importance of setting and maintaining professional boundaries with service users
