  • Who's involved in keeping schools and work sites safe
  • Personal health and safety rights
  • Handling and disposing of any hazardous chemicals
  • Preventing any environmental and physical hazards

Learners will be able to:
  • Describe the different health and safety roles and responsibilities in your school district
  • Understand your role in keeping yourself and others safe
  • Know how to report an accident or incident
  • Recognize and report unsafe working conditions
  • Identify various chemical and environmental hazards
  • Prepare to use potential hazardous chemicals
  • Handle biohazardous materials such as blood and sharps
  • Describe the health and safety procedures associated with asbestos
  • Report issues regarding indoor air quality
  • Recognize physical hazards
  • Perform physical tasks safely (e.g., lifting, ladder setup)
  • Know the difference between safe and unsafe procedures
  • Use various kinds of equipment safely
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures
  • Apply the school alert system to various situations
  • Recognize and react to violent or potentially violent situations
  • Describe situations when “working alone” procedures are required

Learners can complete this course at their own pace. Each student's school district human resources department is notified when the course is completed so that a completion certificate can be provided.
